Digital Card Making with PSP

I love making my own greetings cards and thought that the card challenges would be a lot of fun. I have a lot of paper and pens...and the other things one would need to make great cards. I found myself trying to keep up with what is new on the market... then I realize all the stuff, the papers, glue, and stamps were getting very costly and I was running out of space to store it all.

That is when I decided to make elements for my cards in Paint Shop Pro aka PSP. PSP is a software that I have been teaching myself since version 3. Now using version 13 I have learned that the program can also create images and paint them as well. Light bulb went off...why not use it to make my cards and not just some elements for the cards. And so digital card making began for me...and boy has it saved me money.

This blog now consist of my creations that I have made using nothing but PSP. I found the challenge for me is to teach myself how to meet the different card challenges within PSP.

Well that is how all this digital stuff began...Just thought I share.

Dog House Again...

As usual I did not want to create your typical card which is why I just love using PSP, it allows me to be more creative.

Charisma Cardz...Sympathy (not typical at all but heart felt just the same...lol)
Cute Card Thursday...Anything Goes
Digi Doodle Shop...Don't Forget Our Men

I used 4 different digi papers on this one...the background paper was white, I thought it to be to much so I changed the color to blue which I color picked from the stripe paper. The buttons were created using an image from the shape tool, flood fill with white and then applying the inner bevel effect. The image is from a coloring book page I found on the internet and then colored in PSP. I just love my PSP!

THIS ENTRY WON THE CHALLENGE AT CHARISMA CARDSZ!!!!

Your Love Floods My Heart

Boy did I enjoy doing this card. For Cute Card Thursday the challenge was something transparent...so I created a clear dome in the shape of a heart and then filled the heart with floating hearts in a red liquid. For the Charisma Cardz challenge it was something to match...so I created a matching envelope for my card...and for Digi Doodle Shop's Best challenge it was anything goes!

Vintage Halloween

Charisma Cardz had a vintage theme for us this week. My comment to myself was wow what do I do. First thing I did was to do a search to see what a vintage card looked like, well durng my search I came across a vintage Halloween stamp so I decided to use it for my focal point on my card. I used Cute Card Thursday challenge for this week which was a sketch to help complete the card. I also created the look of velvet for the base. I thought it turned out pretty good.

Autumn

I have this water color print from years ago that I thought depict the colors of autumn very well which is the challenge for this week over at Charisma Cardz Challenge. I scanned the print into my computer to use for this challenge. I hope I didn't break any rules by doing so. I can't read the name of the artist otherwise I would mention it here. I am also using this card for Cute Card Thursday which the challenge is to make your own. It does not matter what you have made. For me it is the circle punches and the sentiment.

Twinkle, Twinkle

This entry is a triple hitter...the 3 challenges are:

Sew Many Challenges...wet or dry embossing
Charisma Cardz Challenge
...any thing goes
Cute Card Thursday...a sketch

The digi stamp I recieved last year from Sew Many Cards...that is what actually started the creation of this card. I thought the image to be so cute I just had to use it and was looking for the perfect challenge for it. I used a digi kit for most of the elements and what was not there I created in PSP.

He's Not Heavy

When I saw the challenge for Charisma Cardz and Cute Card Thursday I knew exactly what I wanted to do. Charisma Cardz is a sketch challenge and Cute Card Thursday is about tweet and a fluttery (add a bird or butterfly)...I decided to combine them. Once again I chose to use digi images from my pcCrafters collection and digi papers and embellishments from SummerDriggs Happiness collection. I wanted to use a pink paper background under the image but the collection only contain a blue so I used PSP to change the paper to pink. It worked out perfectly. The staples I used to hold the tags on were created in PSP as well. Cute!

Another Double

When you are given colors as your challenge and a sketch for another challenge it is so easy to combine the two to get one fabulous project. This entry is just that, I combine the color challenge of The Color Dare with the sketch challenge of Charisma Cardz. You will find the colors here and the sketch here.

Charisma Cardz - Merry and Bright

This week's challenge at Charisma Cardz is merry and bright! Is this bright enough for you...LOL

The background is actually a picture of multi colored mini lights that I applied a mosaic texture to in PSP...the image is a coloring book page that I painted in PSP and applied a artistic texture to called balls and bubbles in PSP. Pretty cool uh?

Another Double Challenge

This card presents my interpetation for two blogs, Charisma Cardz and S2G Challenges. For Charisma Cardz challenge the requirement is No Backing Papers...and S2G Challenge is a sketch challenge with a twist. The twist is you have to use Fun Flock, Flower Soft, Felt or something soft on your card! My something soft is suede brown and rust color fabrics and ribbon. I have met both challenges, and my card is complete.

Charisma Cardz - Delightful Daisy's

Another new group for me. Charisma Cardz is a Thursday challenge and for today the challenge is all about spring. The requirement is to show daisies on your project.

Thinking of spring reminded me of clean and crisp. I wanted my card to have a clean and crisp appearance. The challenge has been met...my card is done.
